Hey friends!!

Happy Thursday (we’ve almost made it to Friday!  Is there anything better?? …yes…sleep..more sleep..)  Today I wanted to share a few more things that are rocking my world right now (some gifted to me, some not).  For more “Loving Lately” posts, go here and here.

Loving Lately

Working out with Katy

009

My sister, Katy, and I have been meeting every day to either walk or lift!  I’m loving this time with her!!  We’re gonna turn heads with our stretch marks at the beach this summer!

If we walk, we usually cover around 3 miles on the local greenway with our strollers.  There is never a lull in the conversation when you’ve got “twin” newborns.  We talk about sleep schedules, nursing, our joys and failures, …poop.  You name it.

We lift weights in my basement and have slowly been adding more and more weight to our workouts.  Right now, we’re just focusing on a mix of strength endurance (3 sets of 15/20 reps) and hypertrophy (3 by 10/12).  Henry and Clara play with all our basement junk while Charlie Ruth and Porter sleep.  I really love the schedule we have right now and I’m hoping we can do basement workouts for the next few months until I’m ready to get back in the gym.

Rodan and Fields’ Micro-Dermabrasion Paste

007

My friend Kristine recently sent me a sample of some Rodan and Fields Micro-Dermabrasion Paste.  One packet equals one use.  I tried it the other day while showering (in place of my usual face wash) and came out with THE softest skin.

008

I’m getting old (seriously.  this is the oldest I’ve ever been in my life….) and I feel like I’m in a place where I need to get into a more formal skin routine.  I know that Rodan and Fields sells a couple of different lines that are specifically tailored to different needs.  I like the looks of the Reverse and Redefine lines but I just haven’t decided if I’m ready to take the financial plunge.

Anyone out there tried R & F?  Thoughts??

Snacking (what’s new??)

009010

I’ve always been a “snacker” but lately I can’t stop grabbing little bits of food here and there.  It’s probably because I rarely have time to sit down to a full meal (having a new baby might be the best weight loss idea ever since you never have time to actually eat).

My go-to snacks are apples with almond butter, beef jerky and THIS popcorn!  Oh-my-word…it’s amazing!!!!  I found this bag at Greenlife in Asheville but you can buy it at Whole Foods and Amazon.  Have you ever tried Chicago-style popcorn before??

Amazon + HBO

Just yesterday Amazon announced that it will be streaming some HBO shows FOR FREE to Amazon Prime members!!!!!!!!!!!  If you’ve been on the ledge about starting a Prime membership, this should push you over (I’m in no way affiliated with Prime, but I do use affiliate links with Amazon from time to time).  I’m excited to re-watch the Sopranos and Flight of the Concords!

Baby Moccs

Porter can’t walk (obviously) but the kid needs adorable shoes, right?!!?  My friend Susanna made him these little moccasins and they haven’t come off his feet (except when he sleeps…which is all day…so he wears them a little).

027

She took an old purse, cut it up and VOILA!!  Susanna also sews baby bibs, dresses and all sorts of other things for children.  Did I mention that she has FIVE kids and homeschools?!?!  You can follow her on Instagram (bluebarnfarm) and/or her blog (www.bluebarnfarm.wordpress.com).  (Don’t quote me but I believe she sells these suede moccs for $40.)

043

I just saw that she’s selling this new design too!!  Cute!

This Song

I’m in love with this song.

Confession:  After watching it at total of 20 bazillion times, I formed a slight crush on the dude sitting on the bed.  That is until Travis pointed out that he’s SUPER bored with this naked lady in front of him (seriously…imagine he’s saying “Meh” with a shoulder shrug and it’ll totally ruin it for you too).

Now I’m not as crushy.  Just a little bit crushy. Winking smile

QUESTION:  What’s something you’re loving lately??  (If it’s something I need to buy, leave a link!)

  1. Hi Ashley! I wanted to touch base with you regarding R+F. I had the same thoughts almost a year ago when my sister in law presented the products to me. I kept telling her that they were way too expensive! Well, after I saw her skin improve along with all of the before and after photos she had collected, I thought it was worth a shot(hello, 60 day money back guarantee). Well, I didn’t send my empty bottles back because I was absolutely blown away by my own results! My skin has never been so even toned and smooth (and, good bye to my pregnancy mask too) I am so happy that I decided to go for it. I am so happy that I decided to become a consultant so that I can to share this amazing stuff with anyone that is willing to listen! As far as the cost goes, if you work the numbers it’s really not that bad, only about $2.36 a day to have beautiful skin. That’s less than my favorite drink at Starbucks! I would love to get in touch with you to talk more and send you a sample of the micro-dermabrasion paste if you haven’t already tried it! Kristine

  2. Katy looks like such a badass in that photo! So cool that you two can share this season. :) Right now I’m loving my new Saucony running shoes…it’s like running on clouds!

And yes, Amazon Prime is amazing. I may or may not be spending some extra “bonding” time with my Prime video streaming once unemployment starts next week…

  3. Those baby moccasins are absolutely adorable! I love that you and your sister get to work out together. I’m expecting late August, and my younger sister just had a baby a month ago. Unfortunately, we live 5 hours apart, so we won’t get to do those things together. I’m admittedly a little jealous!

  4. You’re such a great sister! So glad you and Katy can have that bond!

I’m curious if others say anything about Rodan & Fields. I’ve considered using their products and keep telling myself I should have a “formal face routine” … why does that crap all have to be so $$$ though?!

  5. In honor of my fabulous husband, here are four things he’s loving…

    1. Clam gun (sort of like this one- http://www.amazon.com/Danielson-279T-Clam-Gun/dp/B001443N4Q). It was an early Father’s Day present, and he raves about it all of the time.

    2. Keen Clearwater CNX sandals (http://www.rei.com/product/846786/keen-clearwater-cnx-sandals-mens). We used our REI rebate for these, and they have proven their worth in comfort, slick rocks, and the beach in a very short period of time.

    3. Kalaloch Lodge (http://www.thekalalochlodge.com/). We visited the tide pools on Monday (more on that next week), and fell in love. As a result, we booked a night in a cabin when more family is in town for later this year.

    4. Beets and strawberries. Straight from our greenhouse to his mouth and tummy.

Yes, life in the PNW on the Olympic Peninsula is marvelous!
