Confession:  Up until Apera sent me a (fabulous) new gym bag, I was using whatever I could find to haul my stuff to the gym.  Plastic grocery bags being among the mix.

Not trendy.  Not cute.

Just bag lady bad.  I was your typical pregnant, bag lady.

Thank you for saving me from myself, Apera!!!!

A few facts about these bags –

  • The company is relatively new, founded in 2012.
  • Each Apera bag features antimicrobial product protection – inside and out – to fight bacterial odor.
  • Most bags have a special shoe compartment (that’s wipeable!)

Apera-3

  • Each bag has ventilated compartments, wipeable linings and washable inserts, ensuring that the bag stays clean, odor-free and most importantly, healthy.
  • The company GIVES BACK!! –> Apera donates one bag to a Special Olympics athlete for every three bags they sell.

Apera sells SEVEN different styles of bags, each geared toward the “social athlete” aka your typical gym goer, each with something a little different from the next.  After looking through their products, I chose the Sling Tote!  My initial (bag lady) thought was this:  DIAPER BAG!!  Ha!  I plan to use it as BOTH – for the gym but pack it with some essentials for Porter too!  I absolutely LOVE all of the little compartments (especially the side panels for my shoes!).  So far, I’ve received several compliments and inquiries from people at my gym – they all want to know who made the bag!

I know that people like to see the products/gear that other people use, so I thought I’d show you what I put into my gym bag!

  1. I have to have a brush! I can pull my hair back neat, but after a workout it always looks totally wrecked. D:

  2. i must have snacks in my gym bag just in case those crazy pregnancy hunger pains strike!! and also hair bands – lots and lots of hair bands because working out with hair down is not for me

  3. I have to have hair bands, a head band and my ipod!!Ooops, that’s three but they are a must : ) I LOVE that bag!!!!

  4. You really just never know what you might find in my bag :) Red pens? From grading. Sunday’s newspaper? Never took it inside. Glitter? Yeah, not sure how that one got there.

  5. I ALWAYS keep a snack in my gym bag haha. But a lot of time I need to shower at the gym in order to make it to work so I always have shampoo, towel, extra clothes etc.

  6. Such a cool bag! I’ll take one. ;) I must have my headphones and gloves packed in my gym bag!
My current gym bag is pathetic. It is one of those ‘freebie’ race bags that has the draw string… you know the kind. It’s also bright pink, so when it’s really full, I’m really drawing attention.

  7. I’m pretty fanatical about having my HR monitor for the gym. That and a good hair tie – absolutely cant workout with hair flopping all over.

  8. I always have deodorant in my bag. I have one at home and one in my gym locker, but ALWAYS have one in my bag too.

  9. I always have my garmin10 and my ipod shuffle in my gym bag. Like you, that is sometimes a plastic grocery sack
    ;0

  10. Well a MUST is an extra pair of drawers!! Got to be sure that on the off chance I forget to bring a pair with my change of clothes, that there’s a fresh pair just waiting!! Other things that pretty much stay present are my swim suit in case I decide I’m feeling more like a wet workout, my hairbrush, some leave in conditioner, gel (for those days I run a bit short on time or forget the straightener and need to go the curly route, and my toiletries bag. Oh and my way cool wireless blue tooth headphones!!! Workouts are WAY slack without my headphones to jam with and while the wired ones work, I have become spoiled with the wireless!! :D Happy Wednesday!

  11. Spin shoes, socks, and printed workouts (some from this blog!) so I can always get a good workout in at the gym.

  12. It’s winter in Iowa, so in my gym bag are these staples:

    Shorts.
    T-shirt.
    Sports bra.
    Underarmour leggings and mock turtleneck.
    SUPER-warm hat and gloves.
    Face mask.
    And face wipes.

I rotate my shoes depending on what I’m doing, so half the time I get to they gym and they aren’t in my bag …

In case you’re wondering I am still using the Chobani bag I won at Blend 2012, and the BF stole my 2013 bag and is using it *daily* at the gym (he’s hit his January WL goal already!).

  13. Wow! That bag is awesome!
I must always keep an extra pair of socks in my bag…never know when the ones I’m wearing will rebel and start to slip down around my heel, and that just CANNOT be tolerated!!! :)

  14. Extra hair ties and a headband…I won’t work out well if I have my hair all in my face ;)

  15. What a neat company and great bag! I’d love this as I, too, even working at a gym, bring everything in a different random bag each day (plastic bags here too, what! what!). My essential? Extra socks. Training all day and then working out, then showering to put sweaty socks back on to train? That’s become my pet peeve. Thanks, L!

  16. Contigo water bottle, gym gloves and protein for post workout shake. i need to get cuter face towels though :-)

  17. Extra undies for post-workout/the workday… I have forgotten them SOOOOOO many times… And I hate going without!

  18. Gym bag must for me: antibacterial wipes to clean the mats and handles on the equipment, ESP during flu season. And a snack, usually almonds
