Hi friends!  Before we get to the “bumpdate,” you might want to go back and see if you won the Apera Bag giveaway!

Did you win??

(probably not) Winking smile

We’re *supposed* to be getting some snow today, but I’ll believe it when I see it.  It seems like every time I see a little snowflake on my iPhone Weather App, there’s absolutely NOTHING to show for it.  We’ve yet to go sledding.  We’ve yet to have a snowball fight.  Just give me one good snow before Spring comes and I’ll be a happy gal.  Snow dancers – dance for me!

What is baby up to at 29 weeks?

(from BabyCenter.com)

  • Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel.
  • His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain.
  • This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby’s hardening skeleton each day.

How is mama feeling?

29Weeks

Fitness

A great week of workouts!!  I’m still chugging along and feeling really good.  The only thing that’s changing is my ability to RUN.  It’s just not comfortable anymore – too much pressure!  If we run during bootcamp, I tend to skip or do slow high knees instead.  It’s so easy to modify any athletic movement – just do what works for your body and keep moving!

Here’s the rundown from last week:

  • Monday:  Bootcamp
  • Tuesday – Total body strength + 20 min. ArcTrainer
  • Wednesday:  Bootcamp
  • Thursday:  Zumba
  • Friday:  Bootcamp + 2 mile walk
  • Saturday – Zumba
  • Sunday – Power walk with a friend for 6 miles <-don’t you just love it when you get to talking and the time flies!

Highlights

I passed my glucose test!!

The orange drink of which we will not speak…

THANK GOD!!  For anyone who doesn’t know, around 24-28 weeks, most doctors ask that you take a glucose test to determine if you have gestational diabetes.  It involves drinking 50 GRAMS of glucose (sugar!) and then having your blood drawn (or in my case, a finger prick test) to see how well your body breaks down the sugar.

The taste isn’t so bad actually, especially if they serve it cold (kinda like a Nehi Orange soda).  But the hour of nausea afterwards is hell.  Thankfully, I passed.  If you fail, you have to drink 100 GRAMS of glucose and test at the 3 hour mark.  I’m so sorry for anyone who fails.  I want to give you a big hug.

QUESTION:  BTDT mamas – how did you fair on the glucose test?  Has it snowed yet where you live?

splendid…lindsay

  1. Katie says:

I refused my glucose test because of my background in nutrition, so my doctor just did blood work twice, a week apart and it worked great! Passed :)

  2. Denise G. says:

I actually didn’t mind the lime-flavored beverage I got for my test a few months ago, although I wouldn’t choose to down it within 5 minutes again. My doctor does a 2 hour instead of a 1 and then 3 hour. This guy was not happy that I went so long without eating – that was the worst part. But it was all worth it to know I didn’t have GD.

  3. Emily says:

Up here in northern alberta we’ve had 177 cm of snow since nov 30th. I’ll gladly send you some! Agh the joys of Canada winter
Fun fact: if you put Vic’s on your feet then socks pre bed– or anytime really.– it will help clear your nose/head. Not to mention it makes your feet nice & toasty

  4. Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says:

Wowee – that’s a busy week of workouts! I, too, love those workouts with friends that just FLY because of good conversation. Those are the best!

I passed the glucose test, and drinking it wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. It just tasted like a super sweet orange soda to me. But I’m wondering if they’re a little different at some doctor’s offices? Who knows. Anyways, congrats on passing, that’s great!

  5. Shawnna says:

Ugh…passed with Wyatt but failed the first go with Chloe and had to do the repeat!! Talk about horrible!! Especially since on top of drinking that nasty heartburn causing madness you also can’t eat anything. Booo!! Passed the second one with flying colors so I think there was something wrong with the way they did the first one. And how did you end up with a finger stick?? I had to have a full blood draw I think something like 5 blood draws!!

  6. Jamie @ Rise.Run.Mom.Repeat. says:

I passed the glucose test with flying colors both times. I didn’t think it tasted that bad…like orange soda that didn’t quite get enough orange flavor. I didn’t have nausea afterward, either, so I wasn’t really dreading it when it came time during my second pregnancy.

Hooray for passing! Looking good, Lindsay!
