Decisions.  Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em.

That’s how the saying goes, right?

I’ve actually made a great deal of bad decisions in my seemingly cookie cutter, perfect life.

  • Getting my tragus pierced against my parent’s will.  And my belly button.  I now have two closed over, gnarly, purplish holes that will forever be a part of me.
  • That time I got into a car accident on the way to AP History class and pressed the gas instead of the brakes and ended up crashing into the side of a bridge.  Directly across from my grandparent’s house.  Doh!
  • Choosing not to eat for 2 years.  I wouldn’t suggest doing that.
  • The bangs that I had from 3rd grade to 9th grade.  “Umbrella bangs,” as my sister would like to call them.
  • Dating _________.  I’ll not name names.

Plus so many more bad, bad decisions….

BUT…

With the wise counsel of my Father and the bit of brains I inherited from my parents, I’ve made some pretty great decisions as well.

  • Deciding to pursue a career in fitness.  THEN deciding to pursue a career in “mommyhood” and using fitness as a way to pay for me to “stay at home.”
  • Snagging Travis up before anyone else (then making him marry me).
  • Having children.
  • Pursuing early admission to UNC-Chapel Hill, a decision that would lead me to so many friendships, a degree I may never use and to Travis.
  • Moving back to Franklin.
  • Slowly turning a naptime hobby into Lindsay’s List.

See.  All good.

And….I simply have to add “FOUNDING BLEND RETREAT” to that list.

The reason WHY I started Blend can be found here (the story is filled with dragons and daggers and suspense and kissing- you should read it).  In short, I selfishly wanted to have a weekend of fellowship with some of my favorite bloggers.  Sit down and TALK to them in real life, to SEE what they were like.  Not just read about their lives.  Be a PART of their lives.

Blend 2012 was that and SO much more

Yeah, we hugged and laughed and worked out together.  Shared meals and stories.  Explored Boulder and all of it’s bars.

But we also created a community.

A community that still chats daily in our Facebook group about all sorts of schtuff.  A community that reads each others blogs and supports one another OFF-LINE as well!  A community of girls that will come back to Blend next year JUST BECAUSE.

It is with GREAT pleasure that I announce that the 2013 Blend Retreat will be held in Park City, Utah on May  17th-19th.

Tickets will be $100 and will go on sale in January.  Ticket sales will be “first come, first serve” and the cap will be 125 people.  So basically, you need to be AT your computer when they go live.

Janetha, Katie and I will announce more specifics as we secure sponsors and sign contracts.  Rest assured, we’re working hard to keep expenses low and the fun/fitness/fellowship/good food level HIGH.

Will you come and join our community?

QUESTION:  Tell me one GOOD or BAD decision that you’ve made!

**We’re looking for SPONSORS – if you know of anyone who would like to get their product name out to bloggers, Blend is a great avenue!  Please give me an email!**

  2. BLEND might be your best decision EVER! But I’m biased. I cannot wait for next year. It was seriously one of the best weekends of my life.
Love this post! Thinking about adopting something like it. I too had “umbrella bangs” – and I am ashamed to admit multiple times. Kept cutting them and growing them out year after year.

  3. This is so exciting, Lindsay! And I’ve always wanted to go to Utah, too… there is a small chance we’ll be moving this summer and it would be around that time, but I should know by January. Marking my calendar! :)

  4. STOPPPP I AM SO STINKIN EXCITED!!!! Hopefully this is something I can actually get out for this time…. last year finals got the best of me. Ugh. The final wasn’t even worth it. Should have gone to Blend. Love you lady! :)

  5. Yay! So glad I can finally visit Utah. :)
BLEND2012 was one of the best weekends of my life- and I’m sure that 2013 will be even better (if that’s possible). I definitely hope it’s the same kind of crowd, too. :)
Best decision (recently)- quitting my teaching job to pursue my passion in the fitness industry.
Worst? Getting a stupid dragon tattoo on my back when I was 18… at spring break… in Florida. Ugh.

  6. Blend sounds like so much fun! It would be a trip for me to get to but sounds like it would totally be worth it! I think we’ve all made our fair share of mistakes in life but how would we ever learn if we didn’t make them :)

  7. Also, would it be bad if I just went ahead and got flight tickets now? Because I fully plan on going (and crashing the party and staying in a hotel nearby) even if I don’t get tickets. ;)

  8. YESSSSSSS… you should do an early bird release to 2012 attendees … just sayin’. :)

What did you get your degree in, BTW? I’m glad that I did graphic design because I’m going to probably be able to do the same thing you’re doing, except use design instead of fitness (or design AND fitness).

    Great decisions:
    1) Changing schools twice and ending up at ISU (where I met the greatest friends ever AND Mark)
    2) Going to BLEND last year!
    3) FLYING to Blend in 2013. :) Hoping there’s a shuttle b/c I really don’t want to rent a car.

Love ya lady! I’m so there.

  9. Very excited- I heard such great thing about it last year & I’ve got it on my calendar! The few trips I’ve had to Utah have been gorgeous- can’t wait to see more!

My great decisions are marrying my husband, starting yoga which was a life-changing journey, and falling in love with travel!

  10. i like that you snagged travis and started Lindsay’s list. Great decisions! and this, yes! You three made a great decision to keep BLEND a community driven retreat. Can’t wait for those mountains!!

    p.s.
Are you going drive again? If so, stop in Austin and pick me up. K?

    xxoo

  11. First let me start by saying that your “bad” decisions were obviously learning experiences that allowed you to fully enjoy your great decisions. :-) You might not appreciate them as much if you hadn’t lived through the bad.

Second, I’m so bummed I can’t make the Blend retreat! I have been waiting for the announcement and hoping with all my might that I could make it, but it’s the same weekend as graduation from my master’s program! Sad face.

I’m sure it will be an amazing time and I can’t wait to hear about everything! I will DEFINITELY be attending in 2014 though.
