I used to hate Thursday’s.  I’m pretty sure I complained here and here and here about them.  (That’s actually only one link.  I could have SWORN I complained more than that, but I couldn’t find the posts.  Oh well…pretend there are links there and just believe that Thursdays were bad.)

The whole day was a bust…the kids were crankier, my house seemed to always need a good scrubbing and it was the one day where I was too busy to workout (i.e. sweat out the stress!).  Something would invariably go wrong.

But lately, I’ve really been trying to focus on the POSITIVE things about Thursdays (Katie told me to.)  And really any day!  When you’re lying in bed and the alarm goes off, you get to choose how you’re going to approach the day.

That’s one of the great things about having free will.  CHOICE.

So I ask you, how is your day going so far?  Have you been complaining?  Did you smile at your husband and your kids or did you scowl at them? Are you thankful?  Or are you having “White People Problems” (i.e. something that you complain about, but that in the grand scheme of things, is ridiculously shallow or petty)?

Here’s my go at it – Thursdays are wonderful because:

  • One day closer to the weekend.
  • Worship Team practice happens on Thursday night (although I haven’t been in two weeks due to Aladdin rehearsal – can’t wait to get back to the Team – I still sing on Sunday mornings with them, but it’s nice to have a mid-week meeting.  Plus – it’s usually the only time during the week that I get to see my sister.)
  • Thursday’s are now a lifting day for me.  And I LOVE lifting (maybe even more than running right now).  As this posts, I’ll be at the gym doing the TT from this week!
  • And lastly, I get to post “Thursday’s Theme”!!

Nice segway, Linds…

The theme for this week’s Tuesday Trainer is “Equipment – Trainer’s Choice”!!

This means that YOU GUYS get to select your favorite piece of equipment and submit a move using it!  It can be something that we’ve already done (BOSU, Resistance Bands, etc) OR it can be something new, like using gliders or a TRX system or whatever.  YOU get to choose!  Submit the moves and then I’ll put together the workout.

Here’s my move – using a BODY BAR – Oblique/Plié Squats

Just disregard the part where I say that the theme is Body Bar.  Smile

A few guidelines on submitting your move:

  • Make sure to introduce yourself AND your blog!  If you don’t blog, just tell us who you are!
  • Feel free to give tips on proper execution and technique.
  • DON’T include a number of reps.  I’ll do that part.
  • If your move isn’t correct, meaning improper form or instruction, I will not be able to feature it.  Do your homework and get it right!!
  • On Tuesday, grab the Tuesday Trainer button, to provide your readers (IF you’re a blogger) with an easy link to the workout!  Simply copy the text in my side bar and paste it into your HTML code.

**DEADLINE for submitting moves is Monday night, the 5th, at 8pm EST. Again, go here to learn how to upload your video!***

And remember – ANYONE can participate – blogger or not!  Mom, get your Thighmaster out from under the bed!  Or does Katy have it?  Can’t remember.

QUESTION:  Tell me one of your “White Person” problems.  Mine?  I found FIVE white hairs in my hair yesterday.  Gah!!!  I’m well on my way to joining the old bessies I teach in water aerobics.  Just need a floral print one-piece and Aqua Socks.

**Lastly, today is the last day to enter the mix1 giveaway.  These really are wonderful shakes, guys!  Go enter!**

splendid…lindsay

  1. When I was younger I thought the notion of Free Will and God were contradictory–how could there be an all-knowing power, and yet we still have the opportunity to make our own decisions. Now I love the idea of Free Will…and I totally agree that we can shift our negative thinking…I definitely had a much harder time with that when I was a bit younger, but now (every once in a while!) I can stop. pause. and change my perspective! Great post, Lindsay!

  2. Loving your outlook on Thursday. :) Does a butternut squash coutn as a piece of equipment? LOL. :) Hmm.. white person problem. I don’t think this is a white person problem, but I have the pointiest belly button after having twins. It pokes through ALL my shirts. Ugh. Not fun. I’ll trade you your few white hairs in a second!!! :)

  3. I call my “white people problems” “high-class problems”… same concept though. It’s funny how we really can sweat the small stuff sometimes. I’m about-to-start-my-period annoyed at everything today, so I must thank you for the chuckle! :)

  4. White People Problems – ha, love it. That drives me crazy. We are so spoiled.
I love Thursdays because it’s one of the days I get to climb with my husband at the gym after work/school.
What to do for Tuesday Trainer?!?! I don’t do well with so much freedom…plus I don’t use a lot of equipment…hmmm, everyone has a hangboard, right? :D No? What else…

  5. Is it bad that I started chuckling the minute I saw the title to this post? lolz

Thursdays are kinda tough for me too…today I came in to work to find that 200 fedex shipments never made the airplane out (sigh) drama ensued for the better part of my morning. BUT coffee is my hero…so all is not lost. Plus the taco truck comes to my work today…yummy! :) (Why do my positives both involve food?) haha

Looking forward to this TT theme…just learned a GREAT abs buster

  6. I’m not a huge fan of Thursday, but I like it more than Monday. Typically. ;)

Love the White People Problems reference! I find that a lot of times, when it comes down to it, most of my problem are indeed White People Problems. Looking on the sunny side of things is totally the way to go.

  7. I am so guilty of complaining about my total non-problems. Like Maya messing up “circle” on her spelling homework. 5 times!! Drives me nuts. And the never-ending dishes in the sink. I need to stop!

  8. Wheee! SO glad your Thursdays are looking up – like you said, it’s a choice! This week has been a bum workout week for me and I’ve been feeling kind of dumpy, too – but I needed this reminder! Can’t wait to come up with some sort of equipment move for TT!

  9. I LOVE Thursdays for one reason: It’s my work from home day. A day when I don’t have to face my hellish 3 hours in the car to get to work everyday and I can enjoy a longer workout in the morning, followed by my favorite old-fashioned oatmeal and coffee while I read blogs before starting my day. LOVE IT!

  10. Fun theme for the week – can’t wait to see what kind of crazy workout we you create from our videos (yes – I’m going to be a good friend this weekend and submit a video!). :) I actually like Thursdays, probably because it is closer to the weekend and I don’t typically have set plans!
