I was recently tagged by my good friend, Kristin, as a Blissful Blogger (thanks, love!).

In return, I have to confess 7 things about myself.

Open up??  Share my life with the world wide web (which btw, I hate when people say that.  World Wide Web.  Just say internet!)  Tell my secrets??

OK.  I have no problem with that.

7 things – Here goes…

1.  Burt’s Bees is the ONLY chapstick I use.

bb

I’ve been a loyal B.B. user for over 10 years now (childhood – it was Blistex or Carmex).  And I only like the classic kind that comes in the yellow tube, not their newer lines with tints and stuff.  A year or so ago, I found B.B. on sale for $2.00 (normally $3.00), and I bought about 20 tubes.  We’re almost OUT of them!!  Yeah, if that isn’t love for a product (and a testimony to how dry our lips must get), I don’t know what is!

Bonus – the stuff is made in Durham, NC…right near UNC, where Travis and I went to college!

2.  I have an eating disordered past.

imagesCAV1X2YG

Both anorexia and bulimia actually. I promise to do a longer, more in depth post on this soon!

But for now, I’ll tell you that my ED consumed 3 years of my life (high school and some college) and that meeting Travis was my “therapy” and way out of that hell.

3.  I have to sleep on the right side of the bed.

With a pillow between my knees and ankles.  And one arm between the sheet and comforter, so that the sheet acts as a barrier between my arm and my side/underarm.  You already know that I’m crazy.  Now you know that I’m a crazy, anal sleeper.  I’m surprised I have ANY friends.

4.  There are days when I wish I didn’t have children.

It’s true.  It isn’t always roses and candy corn over here.  Some days, I count down the minutes until naptime and bedtime, when I can finally get a second to myself.  Some days, all I want to do is sleep in, workout whenever I want to, and eat without tiny hands grabbing at my plate.  Some days, I don’t WANT to have to clean poop out of the bathtub (that some day was yesterday, btw!).

BUT (isn’t there always a BUT!?! – Thank you, God, for the “But”).  BUT, I know that God has put a calling on my life to be a mother.  And not only a mother, but a mother to Henry and Clara (and who knows who else).  Every mother has rough days, but the benefits of having children DEFINITELY outweigh the negatives for me!  It was worth losing my freedom to gain something even greater – laughter, love, legacy.

022

If anything, having children makes me turn to God for guidance and grace more often than not….and that can never be a bad thing.

5.  I don’t like to cook, bake or really even be in the kitchen.

Pick your jaws up off the floor, foodie friends.  And Travis, quite nodding along like you already knew this because I serve you burnt and tasteless food more often than not.

031

Ya’ll, I just wasn’t born to cook.  My parents must have known this because they quickly looked me over and passed all of their cooking knowledge on to my sister.  I follow a recipe.  I can even make tasty dishes.  But THE DESIRE and the YEARNING that I often read about that other blogger’s have for cooking and baking, well, it just isn’t there.

PLUS, you have to clean up after you do all baking and the cooking.  I don’t have a dishwasher (I know!).  Give me a bowl of cereal and I’m good.

Wanna read more about my cooking misadventures?  Go read this guest post I did for Holly.

6.  There are FOUR opened bottles of shampoo in my shower.

All different brands.  I like to rotate between them.  I like to have choices – so it should come as no surprise when I also tell you that Sweet Tomatoes is one of my favorite restaurants!

Currently in the rotation:  Neutrogena Clean and Clear, Suave Rosemary something, Pantene Classic, and Dove Cucumber Green Tea.  Nothing expensive or “all-natural”.  I’ve got a Blogger’s Retreat to save up for!

7.  I might have to start coloring my hair soon.

This worries me.  Which, in turn, will just give me more gray hair.

038

I’m kinda proud of the fact that while some of my friends were forced to color their hair because of premature graying, I was left with long, brunette locks.  Not the case anymore.  Actually, it isn’t THAT bad yet.  I’ve probably got a 1:200 gray/brunette ratio going on right now.  Katy likes to pick them out for me.  I let her.  For the sister bonding time.

I’m not vain.  Just crazy.

———-

Now I get to tag 5 of you!!  But since this is a 7 things survey, I’m going wild and tagging 7 friends.  Gotta go with some of my TT partners in crime – I could only pick 7 so I wrote down names and drew them out of the seat of Henry’s firetruck toy – true story!

Can’t wait to learn more about you guys!

Question:  If I didn’t tag you, tell me something about yourself that I might not know!  Share those secrets!

splendid…lindsay

  1. Wow I also have to sleep on the right side, usually on MY right side, pillow between my knees, right arm under my pillow but NOT with the comforter and sheet separated by my arm at my side because I have to use a duvet! I can’t stand sheets and comforters because they get all tangled, so we just use duvets and wash the covers all the time!!

Burt’s Bees is also my only chapstick. I love the pepperminty feel and that it’s beeswax, not weird petroleum stuff.

I may have to come back and read you more often because we sure have a few things in common!!

  2. I laughed out loud at the canine eating disorder. And now I’m laughing again thinking of it. That is FUNNY. I wish that I didn’t have any gray hair…I started getting gray hair at 17, and now I’m mostly gray. Mostly gray at 33! It’s crazy and annoying.

  3. Love this list! It’s so genuine and honest. I’m a Burt’s Bees convert as well. Can’t live without it. And I also have an abnormal amount of shampoo in my shower. My sister is a stylist and I get lots of goodies from her – many of which are still unused.

  4. Okay, LOVE this. Your kids…. oh they are beautiful. We all have THOSE days.
The whole arm in between the sheet and the comforter is a new one. :) I always have to have one foot hanging off the side of the bed.
    Your hair is gorgeous! :)
I think a lot more of us have ED pasts than we like to admit. Thank goodness they’re PASTS. :)
And you….. are awesome! So glad I found your blog. :)
7 thumbs up for Lindsay. :) he he!

  5. Shoot! I just commented and now it’s gone…don’t know what happened! Should I try to recreate all I said?! …here goes. ;) Thank you for sharing more of who you are, Lindsay! I didn’t know about your ED past and appreciate your vulnerability to share. I’m so thankful for God’s grace and for providing Travis to you. :D Your hair is beautiful – makes me want to run my hands through it (can’t do that to my hair anymore!) – and I’m excited because I’ve never been tagged in a “chain post” like this (even if I was drawn from the hat). ;) So the deal is to think of 7 random things about me then? It’s on. :D

  6. Wahoo! Gettin’ pumped for the blogger retreat! And I’ve never been tagged in a “chain post” like this before (color me excited, even if you drew my name from a hat)… ;) I love your hair – makes me want to run my fingers through it (I can’t do that anymore to my own head!) and thanks for your honesty to even share a little bit about your past – I didn’t realize that you struggled with an ED. Thanks for your vulnerability. Thankful for God’s grace and Travis in your life, friend! I will get on this post – 7 random things about me, is that the deal? Time to start thinking…have a great night, Lindsay!

  7. hahahaha your right side of the bed thing had me DYING! ME TOO. and it’s a never-ending battle because marshall declares it to be the “good side”. i fell asleep on his side of the bed last night because he was gone and i was using his phone charger (left mine in LA) and he told me he was ECSTATIC that he got to sleep on the good side.

anyway, love you and your lists. i’ll try to do this soon… but i might die from hunger

  8. WOW. I love how honest you are it makes me feel like we are even better friends now. Burts bee’s is the only way to go. I guarantee that I will be exactly like you when I have kids and somedays just not want to be a mom! I am excited to hear more about your past and look forward to reading on your recovery. Your hair looks amazing. Blogger retreat is going to be incredible!!!

  9. Hey Lindsay! I just found your blog recently and am enjoying it very much! That’s so funny about the shampoos! I don’t think I could fit that many in the shower with all the other stuff (body wash, conditioner, etc.)!

Something about me…hmm…I met my boyfriend on Myspace. We are about to reach our 4 and a half year anniversary this month, so I think he was a good find! ;)

  10. Thanks for the tag, my dear! And seeing as how I can’t even remember to put a dang poll in my post, the chances of me remembering to do this are slim…however, I’ll TRY. I’ll even put it on my calendar.

And I just love what you said about being a mother. I love and admire your honesty!

  11. Your hair is beautiful! I don’t think you should color it, because once you do, you have to keep doing it…I wish I had never dyed mine! :)

I can totally relate to not liking to cook…I go through phases, but I really only get truly excited about it when I am baking with my little 6 year old niece…she makes it fun!

how special do I feel to be chosen from the truck? cool!

  12. Love love LOVE this! Right there with you on motherhood. I love it, but sometimes I want to enjoy a nice visit to the commode without a little booger grabbing at my pants. Oh Linds, how I love you so :) Kudos for being so honest :)

  13. i feel like this was the sex and teh city movie part where charlotte and miranda confess with eachother about motherhood while they’re drinking. i LOVE that part and it’s so real and honest. lovely share lady ;)

  14. Linds, I love hearing all about your. GOd has given you suck a servants heart and I can see that in your posts and as you care of your children. I also think he’s given you a gift of encouragement because you encourage us daily!

me? uh, i try to pee 3 times before bed because I am too lazy to get up in the night to pee. well, unless I REALLY have to!

    1. thanks, Lindsay! Made me smile today!
I do the same peeing thing – except that I still usually get up at least once during the night. Clara still nurses one time at night, so I’m up anyways.

  15. haa… I can tell you that I TOO have weird sleeping quirks – I put the blanket between my legs and feet. I think Jason and I both have “our sides” wherever we are, hotels, etc, we naturally gravitate to those sides.

I love Burts Bees and I LOVE those kids!! so SO cute!!
