life lately

Hey.

It’s currently Sunday afternoon.  The two youngest kids are napping, Travis is playing ultimate frisbee and Henry is reading in the front room.  I have a lapful of cinnamon Teddy Grahams and a hot cup of coffee.  My plan is to type quickly so I can enjoy my coffee AND watch an episode of Sex and The City before naptime is over.  A quick checkin, yes?  Let’s do it.

Life Lately

1.  I’m a princess, Travis is my daddy.

We’re doing The Little Mermaid at the SMPCA and I was cast as Atina (one of Ariel’s sisters) and Travis was cast of King Triton.  Far and away this is his biggest role to date and I’m so proud of him.  He has a couple songs and quite a few lines.  So far the rehearsals haven’t been too bad (couple nights a week) but things will pick up over the next month.  If you’re local (or within driving distance), come see the show!  July 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd.

2.  I’m on the precipice of something major.

But I can’t tell you what it is yet.  Whomp whomp.

Hold tight.  I’ll share soon enough (and no, I’m not pregnant.)

3.  We’re excited about summer.

The pool is calling our name!  I can’t wait to purchase our pass and spend some hours at the pool.  Since we just rebuilt our deck, I’m looking forward to spending some summer nights grilling and playing outside.

4.  Snapchat is easily my favorite form of social media.

Although I wouldn’t even call it that (social media).  It’s just different; has a different feel.  I think what I like so much about Snapchat is the UNSCRIPTEDNESS of it.  Just raw footage of our day.  You don’t have to worry about captions or setting up the perfect (FAKE) shot.  You just point and shoot.  Yes, it disappears in a day so that’s a bit of a negative when it comes to saving precious moments but then also it’s kinda good that my crazy hair or splotchy face is seen once then gone forever.  My username is lindsays_list if you want to follow along.

5.  My phone is jacked.

Speaking of pictures, I can’t get my pictures off my phone and onto my computer (you know like for this post) and it’s driving me batty.  There used to be this little prompt when I plugged my phone into the computer that asked me if I wanted to import pictures.  Now there isn’t.  Blah.  Porter probably touched something that he shouldn’t have.  I need to sit down and figure it out.

6.  Travis and I are headed to Winston Salem next week!

We’re going to the NCHE Thrive Conference next Friday and Saturday (without kids!!!  Thanks Catherine!).  NCHE Thrive is a huge annual homeschooling conference (I’ve gone once before).  Here in North Carolina, it’s easy to homeschool (I mean it’s hard but they make the rules easy).  All you have to do is 1) take attendance (which I find absolutely hilarious) and 2) have a proctored end-of-grade exam.  Henry has his first end-of-year testing this week and I’m hoping to have a better grasp of where he is and what types of curriculum I might want to purchase before we head to Thrive.  (If you think about him on Friday, send up a little prayer.  He tests at 2pm.)

7.  My coffee is cold.

Drat.

That was fun.  I hope you all have the best week and I’m hoping to pop in sooner vs. later.

QUESTION:  Tell me something that’s going on in YOUR life lately!

  1. Few helpful tips you may or may not already know:
    1) On Snapchat you can save your pictures before you send them. After you take the photo, on the bottom of the screen to the right of the timer (how long you choose for people to see your photo) there’s a down arrow. Just hit that and it will auto save your picture to your camera roll. I do this alllll the time. Works for videos too.
    2) When you plug in your phone to your computer, go to ‘Computer’ and select your iPhone. It will also come up under Portable Devices or show on the side bar of this screen with all your other drives (C, D, etc).
