Oh my word….it’s Friday!!

This week has dragged along for some reason.  The week after a major holiday always feels a little slow, right?  I’m definitely looking forward to some chill time this weekend.  We’re actually heading over to Asheville today to do some shopping – outlet mall, Whole Foods, Trader Joes.  (What are you favorites from Trader Joes right now??  I haven’t been in several months so I don’t know what the latest and greatest are.)

Since it’s Friday, I thought a short and sweet survey would fit the bill just beautifully.  I saw this A to Z one on Julie’s blog this week and liked the looks of it.  Play along in the comment section and pick a letter!

Happy Weekending!

A to Z Survey

A – Age: 32.

B – Biggest Fear:  Failing my children somehow.  Three little lives is a lot of responsibility; luckily I have a village.

011

C – Current Time:  7:41am on Thursday morning.  Kids are occupied by Backyardigans for a sec and I’m sipping coffee.

D – Drink You Had Last:  Coffee (Jamaica Me Crazy K-Cup) but switching to water soon.  I’ve been hitting 100 ounces a day lately – feels great!

E – Easiest Person To Talk To:  Travis, my best friend.

017

F – Favorite Song:  There are SO many songs to pick from!  I absolutely adore the hymn, “It Is Well” and the story behind the song.

G – Grossest Memory:  Hmm…one time I found a huge bug in a mix of romaine lettuce.  That’s not really all THAT gross though.

H – Hometown:  Franklin, NC!

I – In Love With:  God.  Travis.  My kids.  Fitness.

J – Jealous Of:  Those people who live in Colorado and have family there too.  That’d be a dream.

K – Kindest Person You Know:  My friend, Kayla.  That’s the first word I’d use to describe her – KIND.

091

L – Longest Relationship:  Travis.  13 years strong.

M – Middle Name:  Elise

N – Number of Siblings:  One.

069

O – One Wish:  That I could do it all.  I’m pulled in so many different directions and I need more hours in the day.

P – Person You Spoke To On The Phone Last:  Let me look (I’m more of a texter).  Ah, I called my Dad to see if he and mom would watch the kids while we played ultimate frisbee last night.  He agreed (always does).  They grilled cheeseburgers, made milkshakes and gave them a bath!!!!!  Amazingly blessed I tell ya.

Q – Question You’re Always Asked:  “How do I get rid of THIS (pointing at belly or hips or thighs)!?!?”  lol.  Let’s all be happy with our bodies, ladies!

013

R – Reason To Smile:  Too many to count.  I’ll go with GRACE.  God’s grace makes me smile every day.

S – Song You Last Sang:  The Backyardigan’s theme song. Smile (and now it’ll be stuck in your head too….)

T – Time You Woke Up:  First time – 4:05am to nurse Porter.  Second time – 6:30am to nurse Porter again.  Third (and final) time – 6:45am because he wouldn’t go back to sleep.  Stinker.  (and YES, we’re still nursing over here…should I write a post about extended nursing?)

080

U – Underwear Color:  Not wearing any. Winking smile  Scandalous.

V – Vacation Destination:  I’ve been eyeing all sorts of tropical vacation deals on Groupon.  Anywhere with white sandy beaches sounds amazing right about now.

W – Worst Habit:  Reading an email or text and then never responding.  It’s not that I don’t care about you; it’s just that the email is no longer “bold” so it doesn’t scream at me.  Does that even make sense?  I’m such a bad responder.

X – X-Rays You’ve Had:  Just had one yesterday actually on my teeth.  No cavities.

Y – Your Favorite Food:  Warm, gooey, underbaked brownies and ice cream.  YUM!  I’m actually surprised I don’t have cavities.

Z – Zodiac Sign:  Leo.

  1. I really want your black jumpsuit in the picture with your sister! Where did you get it?!?!

  2. To be honest I am totally judging here, but it’s not coming from negative energy. I think it’s great you’re still nursing Porter – I was unable to nurse my daughter so I can’t comment on that at all. However, I do think it’s a little nutso you let him wake you up in the middle of the night to do so when he’s over a year old?! Don’t you think maybe it’s time to sleep train him he self soothe so he doesn’t rely on you? Then you can get a good night’s rest and still nurse him as needed during wake hours.
That’s just me and if it makes you and your husband happy then by all means :) Obviously he’s your third so this parent rodeo is not new to you… this just comes from a momma whose baby started sleeping 11-hours straight and I can’t imagine going back to the wake-ups!

    1. “Nutso” is a bit of a harsh word, Stacey. But I totally hear what you’re saying. That night was abnormal for us and he was up crying for quite sometime before I finally decided to nurse him. He’s back to sleeping through the night now.

      1. I apologize for using a word you found harsh; that certainly was not my intention. I was actually smiling when I wrote it so it was coming from ‘how does she do that still at this age?!’ compared to ‘she’s a complete wack-job.’ But I get how my smile font doesn’t come across too well and I should have thought of that first.
Some people take sleep deprivation much harder than others and it turns out I take it very hard! No idea until our little came into our lives. I totally get that you needed to use it as a way to calm him down.

  3. Yay for extended nursing! I nursed my 1st for 16 months and we were both ready to be done at that point. I let him self wean and it worked out perfectly. My 2nd is still nursing at 16 months and I’m far from being done… sessions are slowly diminishing and I’m a little sad but yay for more sleep :)

  4. Yes, please, post about extended nursing! My little guy just turned one yesterday and I’m trying to figure out what to do! I think I’d like to continue nursing for at least a little while longer but so many seem to think I’m crazy for wanting to do so!

  5. I must agree with every part of B! Also just a random question if you don’t mind me asking, did you do Co-sleeping with the kids? I always love the snuggly pictures of you & the kiddos in bed and was curious if you did that when they were younger? I know it can be easier with Nursing & lets my honest with a newborn & a toddler I’m always looking for wisdom from experienced mamas :D <3

    1. I’m ALL for co-sleeping but we just couldn’t ever do it – my kids are such LOUD sleepers and I never got any sleep. They always just slept in a bassinet or crib. When they nurse at night, I would just go get them, pull them into bed, nurse and then put them right back into their crib.

  6. you SNAGGGGGED MY BRAIN AT THE CAVITIES THING.
Im obsessed with flossing brushing and have cavities.
genetics are a word which rhymes with itch :-)
