Who sings that song about funk town?  Bruno Mars?

It goes, “Funk town.  Funk you up?”  Yeah that one.

(I cringe anytime it comes on Pandora because I know Clara will start singing it and we all know that no good can come of it.  I digress.)

Y’all.  I’m in a funk.

funk

I just got back from a refreshing three weeks and I should feel on-top-of-the-world-Ricola-horn-blowing good….but I just don’t.  Instead I feel like laying on the couch and eating teddy grahams dipped in cookie butter with the air turned all the way down to 65.  This is naughty because we usually keep it at 78 degrees in the Summer.

I feel blah.

Some not so great (horrible) things are happening in our small town (cryptic but oh well) and I’ve just been letting people rob me of my JOY!  That’s what it comes down to.  I’ll get on Facebook or Instagram and I’m just immediately turned off and sad.  The thing is this –> I’m in control of that trigger.  I can step away from the gossip and the social media at any time.  I can choose to say, “NO!!” to joy-robbing.

So I’m going to.

Until I have something positive or inspiring to share, I’m gonna take a little breather from the blog AND social media.  Sometimes it just sucks you dry and I like my joy tucked in close and not stolen.

I’ll see you soon….and full of joy.

QUESTION:  When was your last funk??

splendid…lindsay

  1. I frequently get this feeling from social media in general. The news is a terrible thing these days! And FB, IG, and Twitter all extensions for terrible-news sharing. I’m not saying ignorance is bliss; terrible things do happen and it’s, well, terrible…but I think it’s really easy these days to be flooded with terrible, sad news, and that’s not good for anyone. Good for you for stepping away. Go enjoy all the JOY that fills your life! :)

  2. fun story for you… A little girl came in with her mom the other day and to keep her busy her mom gave her her phone. Pretty soon she was playing that very same uptown funk song. Much to my surprise though she had been taught to say, “to hot, hot DOG.” Hahahaha loved it I laughed every time! Chin up buttercup!

  3. Hugs love u girl!! I’ve been going through a little hell myself last two weeks & letting it take my joy. Trying to stay positive is hard but I keep trying lol. Psalm 30:5 says “For His anger endureth but a moment, and His favor is life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”. Hugs & positive vibes & love coming to u!!

  4. oh girl sending you love and prayers. i have my days, moments, hours when i’m in a funk. i was actually just thinking about this yesterday. my mantra for these times are “this, too, shall pass” xo

  5. “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭8-11‬ NLT)

He will restore, support, and strengthen you, my beautiful friend!! ❤️❤️❤️
