friday’s favorites

Hi friends!  Happy May 1st!!

Oh thank God it’s Friday.  <-side note, please remember TGIF and the great programming that was on every Friday night on ABC.  Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, Boy Meets World.  Man, those were the days.  I remember getting home from school and the only thing we had to do on Friday night was get a pizza from Pizza Hut and sit for hours and watch those shows.  The best!  We don’t even HAVE cable so I’m not sure there’s anything comparable these days on TV.  What were your favorite TGIF shows?

I’m quite busy today preparing for a yard sale tomorrow but wanted to pop in real quick and share some of my favorites for the week.  Comment below and tell me some of yours!

Packing for Colorado

The days are ticking down and we’re SO close to leaving for our Colorado adventure (8 days to be exact).  I’ve started a packing list and while lists help me get organized, this particular one is giving me anxiety because I can’t really start laying things out until after this yard sale tomorrow.  The condo we’re staying in has a washer/dryer so I’m hoping to pack minimally and wash clothes there.  I guess we can always BUY whatever we forget to pack, right? Winking smile

Walking/talking with friends

I can’t get enough of my daily walks with friends at the high school track. We suit up, get our strollers out, let the big kids play in the sand pit and walk a few miles. We don’t really do it for the exercise but more for the fellowship (we talk about everything under the sun).  Special time for sure – how’d I get so lucky to be a stay-at-home mom?!?!

Fun mail from Detour and MyProtein

Detour Bar sent me a box of their newest Simple flavor, Chocolate Chip Caramel.  I like the high protein (20 grams) and low sugar (4 grams) content, but definitely prefer their Salted Caramel Cookie Dough flavor the best.

Another fun piece of mail came from MyProtein – I’ve shared their Whey Protein powder on LL before (love it!) but had yet to try these protein cookies.  Honestly, I thought the chocolate orange flavor sounded gross but it’s actually really, really good.  The macros are ok – these are something I’d sub in for a nightly bowl of cereal or when I wanted a brownie.

Watching IIFYM videos on Youtube

Y’all, I’m obsessed with these “If It Fits Your Macros” videos and I don’t know why.  I’m not interested at all in tracking my own macros but I find it fascinating to watch other people’s “IIFYM Full Day of Eating” vlogs.  Why?!?  I think I’m just nosey and I love food.

Some of my favorites:

Huge time suck but I just can’t stop.

Rummikub dates with my husband

Travis is my best friend.  I can think of no other person that I’d rather spend time with.  Is that rare?  To have that relationship with your husband.  I hope not.  It’s precious to me.  Anyway, every night for the past couple of weeks, after dinner is finished and the kitchen is cleaned by our maid me, we sit down together and play a couple of games of Rummikub (please tell me you’ve played before and if not, get yourself this game immediately!).  I’ve (we’ve) always known that Travis is the better player but I’m beating him more and more often.  Smile  We keep score and I’m still a bazillion points away but I’m getting better.

The Netflix Original Series “Daredevil”

Oh man oh man.  This series is GOOD!  I wasn’t interested at all but after watching the first episode, I was hooked.  We’re almost done with the first season and I hear they’re working on the second one.  So good!  (Plus…Charlie Cox.  Enough said.)

QUESTION:  Tell me one of your FRIDAY FAVORITES!  (Leave links if it’s something I need to buy. Winking smile )

  1. I’m the same with the IIFYM videos – I watch mostly Ashley & Brittany! I just find them so interesting, but still down to earth and ‘normal’. =) I loved having a spontaneous coffee date this weekend, and being able to help out my boyfriend’s mom a little bit with her yard!

  2. I would love to say having a relationship with your husband isn’t rare, but I think it is. Isn’t that sad?! Cory is my best friend in the entire world – I can’t imagine wanting to hang out with anyone more than I want to hang out with him. How lucky to be married to your best friend?!

  3. I’ve been loving Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix! Its such a silly show that my husband and I cannot get enough of! I love the idea of Rummikub dates. Although my husband loves Backgammon so maybe I will start with that.

  4. I used to play Rummikub as a kid with my grandparents. Loved that game. I agree my husband is my best friend too, and no one else I love to spend time with more than him. It’s awesome! I waited a long time to find him and so happy I have, just wish it would have been sooner.
