Happy Memorial Day and a special THANK YOU to all our military personnel (deceased and living!!)!  I think it’s really easy to gloss over the importance of this holiday with BBQs and watermelon and lake time….until I talk to mamas and wives who have lost their husbands in battle.  Whether or not you agree with war or our government, today is a day to remember the PEOPLE.

I’m just extremely thankful.

This weekend was a really laid back one for us.  NEEDED for sure.  With just TWO weeks to go until Blend, I feel like I’ve been sprinting.  Every night after I put the kids to bed, I just collapse on the couch and require at least an hour of unwinding time before I can breathe again.  Don’t get me wrong – planning this retreat is always fun but this year has been particularly challenging with a hard pregnancy and now a newborn.  It’ll all be over soon and then I’ll look around for something else to make me crazy. Winking smile

With the intent of picking up my phone as little as possible (hard), I still managed to snap a few pictures on my iPhone.  Here’s a little glimpse of our long weekend (the best part is we still have TODAY to enjoy)….

  1. Looks like an excellent weekend! The most “exciting” thing I’ve done this weekend is run my first EVER race – a local Memorial Day 5K (all the entrance fee money goes to nonprofits that support wounded veterans, so great!). It was all well and good until we got lost and wound up on the 10K course, haha. But eventually we made it to that finish line!

  2. Fun packed weekend :)

It’s a bank holiday here in the UK too and we’ve kept busy including a gentle hike, trip to the cinema (first in about a year) and visiting family. My favourite part though was Sunday morning where we genuinely lazed and did nothing at all – we never do that :)

  3. Beautiful images.

Our weekend has been a glorious mix of garage sale treasure finds (vintage Pyrex for $1), gluten free baking and nothing, Daddy-Daughter fishing trips, big writing projects, long naps, and yoga.

All weekend the hub has been caught off guard by teens thanking him for his service until he chats with the teen and he remembers he’s wearing camo. (Camo=comfort. Teens=awesome. Service=appreciated regardless of the length or role.)

  4. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is my new favorite movie of all time. I think I will watch it again today!
