I’m glad you guys liked yesterday’s post! I’ve worked with several pregnant ladies in the past and just wanted to share what I know (which could always be more) online. I think the biggest takeaway when it comes to prenatal fitness is this: LISTEN TO YOUR BODY & YOUR DOCTOR! Like any other type of fitness, there is no one size fits all when it comes to training while pregnant. Even for me, my workouts during this pregnancy are SO much different than with Henry (I was a step aerobics ADDICT) and with Clara (I didn’t step foot in a gym for the first 7 months). Do what works FOR YOU and know that whatever fitness you might lose during those 9 months you can totally regain AFTER the baby is born!
What is baby up to at 26 weeks?
(from BabyCenter.com)
- Baby may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner’s as you chat with each other.
- He’s inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs.
- He now weighs about 1 2/3 pounds and measures 14 inches (about the size of a scallion) from head to heel.
- If you’re having a boy (yup), his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.
How is mama feeling?
Fitness
A decent week of workouts considering that the KidZone at the gym was closed for two days (thanks to family for helping out!).
Here’s the rundown for last week:
- Monday – Bootcamp
- Tuesday – Walk + 50 pushups
- Wednesday – ArcTrainer (30 min) + Total Body Strength
- Thursday – AM: Upper body + Core + 2 mile walk PM: Zumba with sister
- Friday – Bootcamp + 10 min. on the battle ropes
- Saturday – REST
- Sunday – REST
Sleep
Another horrible week of sleep! Bah! Maybe I’m entering that dreaded pregnancy insomnia time?? I wake up at least three times per night and toss and turn to get back to sleep.
Gender?
BOY! Porter Killian
Belly Button?
Umm…we’ve got a weird looking innie/outtie situation going on. <-yes, still.
Rings?
On. Pretty loose actually.
Stretch Marks?
None! <-I’ll be filming that little secret I was talking about last week VERY SOON!
Movement?
YEP! Tons!
Highlights
Henry finally had the patience to feel Porter kick! <-Clara has yet to get there. He was SO intrigued by it…like the fact that there really IS something in my belly kicked in for him. Now he asks me a couple times a day if he can feel my belly.
Another highlight of the week was getting a 75-minute facial! I rarely treat myself to any pampering (I do my own hair and nails and I get a massage once a year or so), so this was a rare treat. The facial was so good in fact that I bought myself another one for a later date (along with some of the products she used during the facial – anyone else a sucker for new stuff??)!! For you locals, the place was called “Skin Spa” and is located in the Haywood Hotel in downtown Asheville.
Symptoms
- Nausea
- Braxton Hicks <-tons of these but nothing to be worried about.
- Heartburn
- Glowing skin (but that’s probably from the facial)
Cravings
Warm comfort foods like stews and chili! It’s so COLD!
Ground sirloin + butternut squash + black beans

QUESTION: Give me a HIGHLIGHT from your past week!
splendid…lindsay
I don’t really remember my mom being pregnant. Or rather I remember not really caring. I wish I had taken more notice to that little life in there. I bet Henry loved it!
I bet that was absolutely precious to let Henry feel Porter kicking!
Mmmm pretty sure the glowing skin is just you being beautiful because if I remember correctly, your skin was glowing in some photos you posted a couple weeks ago BEFORE you got the facial. ;)
Hope you can get some better rest this week!
hot mama!! loving the baby bump :)
soup sounds perfect for today!!!!
A highlight was getting our nursery complete this weekend! My amazing husband spent his vacation after New Years painting and putting up chair rail. Then on Saturday he hustled in crib and changing table assembly. And then we added some really fun touches to the walls – Ikea circus tent and leaves. He is going to be a great dad! I went from feeling very unprepared and stressed, to feeling so good now that everything is in place for our little guy. 36 weeks and counting…ultrasound today to see how he’s doing!
oh I hope you see his little face on the US! That’s always fun!
You look amazing, sweet mama. I wish so badly I could give you and that belly a hug!
For some reason, i get so excited when I hear that people are pregnant with boys. My boy is my youngest and I was AMAZED at how much I fell in love with a baby boy (I thought I only wanted girls). I could barely exercise during my first pregnancy but was in much better shape for my second. You look great!
thanks, Stephanie!!
You really do have a beautiful belly. Every time you post an update, I think “her skin looks so soft & glowing. She needs to do pregnancy commercials for a lotion or underwear company”. Weird the things that pop into our heads, right?
It’s cold here in Charleston too and I just mentioned to Kevin that we should plan a weekend getaway to Asheville (our favorite) so that at least it’s SUPPOSED to be cold! Mmmm….stews/chilis! Love em!
you MUST tell me if you’re in Asheville and I’ll drive over!!
Absolutely! I need my fix for French Broach Chocolate Lounge soon ;)
I’m so loving following along on your pregnancy journey!!
Super cute baby belly! I love it! I’m craving soups and stews too like crazy. It’s so cold! Stay warm today friend.
So awesome! What’s crazy? Our little one was born at 27 weeks…yes, a Premie, but still:)
hehe when we first told my two year old niece that i was pregnant and that there’s a “baby in my belly” she kept trying to look under my shirt. the other day, my sister videoed her as she had stuffed a baby doll under her shirt!! so funny!!
I have a weird belly button thing going on too. It’s still an innie, but if I lay on my back, I can pull it out. So strange.
you better not get nausea ever again after this pregnancy! still praying. but you look great! cute mama
