pregnancy – 23 weeks

(I’m sharing THE NAME at the bottom of this post so don’t miss that!)

Well, hey!!  Sorry for the super long analog weekend.  It wasn’t my intention to leave the blog for that long, but a stomach bug hit me (just me, thank God!) and I was down for the count all of Sunday night and Monday.  Seems like cruel and unusual punishment to someone whose been nauseous for the last 4 months, but I’m trying to see the upside here.  Travis was able to stay home and take care of the kids on Monday, which meant I could sleep all.day.long (and I did).  He is simply AMAZING when it comes to stepping up when I’m sick (and really anytime) – he doesn’t just put a movie on for the kids (like I totally would have and totally DID do yesterday when he went back to work).  He plays all day long with them!  My house looked like a crumb monster had cycloned through, but it didn’t matter because my kids had the best time with their daddy.  I’m so thankful to do life with that man!

Yesterday was spent inside and I was finally able to keep some food down.  I’m hoping to get out today to run some Christmas errands and (possibly) go to the gym for a light workout.  Am I the only one who feels trapped if you’re in the house for longer than a day?!?

Let’s see what the baby is up to this week!

What is baby up to at 23 weeks?

(from BabyCenter.com)

  • Baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about the size of a large mango)!
  • Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby’s increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world.

How is mama feeling?

23Weeks

Fitness

I managed 7 hours of fitness this last week!  3 Bootcamps, 1 Zumba class, 2 strength sessions and 1 walk.

Ummm…have you ever seen a pregnant woman try to Zumba??  I wish I had a video to show you of my sister and I (who just happened to be wearing the SAME blue shirts..twins!) side-by-side in Zumba class on Saturday.  Multiple times during the class I just had to stop and laugh.  Hip gyrations and pelvic swivels with a belly looks (and feels) hilarious.  Major props to any pregnant mamas who can Zumba with a straight face.  I am not one of them.

Sleep

Going well, as usual.  I’m clocking roughly 9 hours every night.  Sleep may very well be the highlight of my day.  Is that sad?

Gender?

BOY!

Belly Button?

In. Barely.

Rings?

On.

Movement

YEP! Tons!

Highlights

Sharing the name with you guys!  See picture below. Winking smile  I loved your guesses last week and some of you even guessed correctly on the first name.

Symptoms

  • Nausea.
  • Round ligament pain/back pain
  • Braxton Hicks <-tons of these lately, mostly in the evening. They often go away when I change positions or drink water.

Cravings

None.  I’m still feeling nauseous from the stomach bug (or maybe just the pregnancy) at this point.  Saltines, chicken broth and blue gatorade are my food friends right now.

Drum roll please….

So the name that we’ve chosen fits perfectly with Henry and Clara (both old-timey names that make me smile).  Our third child’s name will be….

A little side story:   For all of my life, my parents have lived next to a Mr. Porter Duncan, a man who conjures up memories of candy and cookies in my head.  Like literally, every single time I’ve seen Mr. Duncan he’s given me a piece of candy, so obviously, I have only the fondest thoughts about him (and consequently his name).  Porter is a kind, noble man – qualities I’d like for my son to have.  Killian is a name that Travis picked simply because he liked it – no back story.  And there you have it.  PORTER KILLIAN!

QUESTION:  When was the last time you had the stomach flu??  <-I usually get a bug once a year – cold/sore throat more often.  I asked Travis this question and his response was, “I dunno.  I’m sure sometime in the last 31 years.”  That man NEVER gets sick!  He’s a robot – I’m SURE of it.

splendid…lindsay

  1. Great name! I am due in 2 weeks and we haven’t decided on names yet….lol…but it will all come together once we find out if it’s a boy or girl. Even if it means baby is without a name for a couple days. So sorry you had a bug, definitely cruel for any pregnant woman!

  2. Stomach bugs are the worst. And especially when you’re pregnant. But after 4 months of nausea? Mama, you may well be a saint. Prayers for NO MORE nausea! I had a stomach bug in October. It hit Sawyer first, then me, then Norah. Ian was out of town. And owed me BIG when he got back.

And I loooooove the name! I’ve got a thing for old-fashioned names too

  3. I love the name Porter, it is my maiden name!! There are tons of Porter’s runnin’ around in my neck of the woods in FL, and some of the younger ones with that as the first name!! Excellent choice!! So happy you are feeling better! <3

  4. Wish I hadn’t have had to shower and leave that day but totally glad for the quick run down of the pelvic thrusts from your sis lol! Love the name. HATE the stomach bug. Thankful I don’t usually get it but once a yr if that. And totally with ya on the all day movie marathon when you’re feeling run down. Hope you successfully make it out and about today!

  5. ugh, so sorry about the bug. NO FUN! but glad you are better. And i pray these next month’s all the tummy stuff goes away and you can EAT! as for the name? OH MY LOOOOOOOVE IT!
