a lot of new-to-me

Yay for it almost being the weekend.  Thursdays used to be my least favorite day of the week for some reason, but are now just like any other day.  I actually think I like them better because we have worship team every Thursday night (which I love) AND I’ve been meeting some girls to lift in the mornings (which I love)for the past month or so .

Yesterday I went to Asheville with my mom and sister (plus kids – they follow me around, it’s weird).  Katy had to go over the mountain to take Praxis test for Elementary Education (she actually already teaches at an elementary school so I thought this was funny) and she invited us to tag along.  We left bright and early with enough time to eat some breakfast in the swanky city.  Read: we left early so we could eat at Cracker Barrel.  Their hashbrown casserole is fancy.

She draws kitty cats.  He draws robots.  …And stick figures with no pants – thinks it’s hilarious.

Both kids were SO disappointed that a peg was missing from the games.  :)

After dropping Katy off for her test, Mom and I headed to Target, TJ Maxx Homegoods and Greenlife (like Whole Foods – in fact, Greenlife is now OWNED by WF).  I thought I’d show you guys what I picked up along the way.  I didn’t really “need” anything so all of this stuff is just fluff that I can’t find anywhere in Franklin and many are new-to-me items!

First up – TARGET.

082

Clockwise L to R:  Cherokee dress for Clara, underwear for me, Larabar ALT bars, Mint M & M’s, Gatorade minis (too cute to pass up), Clif Z Bars (Iced Oatmeal Cookie), Addition flash cards for Henry, Dr. Seuss clock for homeschooling, YES TO face wipes

083

I want this in MY size!

084

I’ve been seeing these ALT bars around the blogosphere lately and needed to try!  With 10 grams of protein from pea powder, I’m intrigued to see how they taste.  Love a good bar – my current favorites are Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Think Thin Crunchy Peanut Butter.

085

Had a $2 off coupon for any Yes To product so I thought I’d try these.  I usually flipflop between the Neutrogena Grapefruit wipes and the Burt’s Bees wipes, so I’ll let you know how these go.

TJ MAXX HOMEGOODS

086

L to R:  Nike shinguards for Henry, Good Health Glories, gnu foods flavor & fiber bars

087

Soooo we signed Henry up for soccer this year for the first time EVER!  Annnndd…Travis and I have agreed to coach his team (?!?!).  I’ve been on the lookout for shinguards for a couple of weeks, so at $2.99, these were a no-brainer.  (When we got home, he insisted he put them on and wore them until bedtime.  Pretty sure he’s going to be amazing.)

088

Best.chip.ever (especially dipped in homemade guacamole)

089

I LOVE gnu bars!  Minimal ingredients and they just taste “fibery.”  I had never seen this flavor before so I scooped it up.

091

And lastly GREENLIFE:

092

Clockwise L to R:  SO Delicious Hazelnut creamer, Cedar’s Black Bean Dip, Kevita probiotic cleanse drink, Annie’s pretzel bunnies, Chocolove bar (made in Boulder – love!), bulk bin trail mix, Clif Z bars (on sale), Bilinski’s chicken sausages

093

Don’t knock it till you try it for more than a few sips, then a few sips more.

094

I’ll drink coffee black, but on occasion I like to coat the bottom of the cup with a little something.  Since cutting out most dairy (aside from the occasional yogurt), I’ve fallen in love with SO Delicious.

095

096

Last time we were near a Trader Joes, I picked up their Apple Chicken Sausages and ate the entire pack!  Since then I’ve been looking for something similar (TJ’s is like 2 hours away) and finally found these.  Fingers crossed – have you tried this brand?  Thinking about grilling them tonight.

098

Another new-to-me item.  Essentially black bean hummus.

———-

And that’s a wrap!  Sure, I could easily have lived without buying any of these items….but then where’s the fun in that?!?

QUESTION:  Tell me about something that I simply MUST buy: food or drink!

splendid…lindsay

  1. Lindsay, I love your blog. You can always put a smile on my face. Now I want to put one on yours: Trader Joes will be opening in Asheville on September 27!!!! Love you!!

  2. Love the say yes to carrots wipes. have those in my gym bag.

Lindsay, I have to say I’m loving reading your blog these days. The happiness shines through in every word! I admit I quit reading for a while because I was trying not to read many healthy living fitness blogs, but yours is morphing into something more personal, and I love reading your journey.

  3. The little 3-pack of goat cheese at TJ’s is delicious, and now I’m hooked on all things goat-cheese. Like quinoa salad with herbed goat cheese crumbled in? Mmmm, yes, I’m all about that business!

I was going to say “Aww, everyone got a little something except for Travis.” And then I realized that- while YOU’RE the one who’ll wear it- the underwear is pretty much a gift for him too. ;)

  4. Ummmm….What’s weird your kids following you around or your sister and mom? LOL. Anyway, I hope I’m not the only guy who ever comments on this blog. Who knows maybe this will encourage your male readers to speak out. By the way before I sound like a stalker this is my first time reading your blog. LOL. See you at Praise and Worship tonight.

  5. My kids are obsessed with Z bars. Actually, so is my mom! I think the kids have had at least one a day every day for the past 3 or 4 years (well, 2 years for Norah). FYI, you can get a 24-pack through Amazon Prime for an amazing deal! And I absolutely LOVE the ALT bars…you can never go wrong with a Larabar!

If you can find it, you MUST try the Wild Friends nut butters. They take nut butter awesomeness to a whole new level.

  6. I recently discovered that T.J. Maxx has ridiculously cheap workout gear. Yoga mats, medicine ball, dumbbells and I have even seen a kettlebell! This was totally new to me so I am still in shock! Their workouts apparel is cheapo too!

  7. I really need to try Yes To products! They always look so amazing when I see them around on blogs. I love me some good deals for the most random things. I seriously want those sweet potato chips right now!

  8. I love that those chicken sausages have Chardonnay in them : )
I live about an hour and a half away from Whole Foods so every time I’m there it’s ridiculous how excited I get – my husband gets a laugh out of it – there’s always something new and delicious to try!

  9. Ooooh that dress! Love, love, love.

And I’m obsessed with KIND bars this week. Mostly because Lauren Martin brought me hundreds, but the chili chocolate one is AH-MAZING.

  10. I’ve been reading your blog for a while and didn’t realize you we’re in NC, much less, the Mountains of NC! I’m in the tippy top of the mountains near Boone, Asheville is about 2 hours from me :) I always find it funny when I stumble on bloggers who are in NC, small world! Anyway, I’d just like to be able to go to Target :/…the closest one is an hour away from me…boo!

  11. I love the YES TO wipes!! I keep packs of them everywhere. I am particularly a fan of cucumbers and the kids version. (They also make an awesome renewing facial scrub Yes to Grapefruit.) I swear I am not paid by the company…I’m just obsessed.
