We’re BACK! (There’s something so RIGHT about sleeping in your own bed…and coming home to a freshly cleaned house – thanks to T!)

It was a WONDERFUL, EDUCATIONAL trip!  Eye-opening really….

…and I can’t wait to tell you all about it, but for now, I’m playing catch-up on everything: sleep, emails, my clients, my classes, other writing assignments.  You get the picture.

So for today, be happy with Thursday’s Theme.  Ok?  Yes, ok.

It feels like it’s been FOREVER since the last Tuesday Trainer, when in reality, it’s been 2 weeks.  I’m ready to pick it back up though and I’ve got a couple of new ideas!

The theme for THIS week is REACTIVE TRAINING!

What IS Reactive Training?

Reactive Training:  Exercises that use QUICK, POWERFUL movements involving an eccentric contraction immediately followed by an explosive concentric contraction.  – NASM

I’ll go over the WHY’s on Tuesday!

Here’s my move: A Squat with Medicine Ball Throw

Some Other Examples (feel free to steal one!):

  • Squat Jump w/ Stabilization
  • Box Jump-Up w/Stabilization
  • Squat Jump
  • Tuck Jump
  • Ball Slams
  • Ice Skaters

When you submit…

  • Tell us who you are! If you blog, tell us the URL!
  • Do the exercises correctly! I won’t post videos with improper form or sketchy descriptions.
  • Be yourself – let that personality shine through!
  • Anyone can participate.  All fitness levels, all ages, all sexes, blogger or not – anyone can do a Tuesday Trainer!

Video submissions are due next Monday, the 16th, by 8pm, EST!

Please have them to me before the deadline or you risk not being featured! Go here to learn how to upload your video.

QUESTION:  How many times a month do you cross train?  Do you know what cross training is?

  1. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with on this one! I’ve heard doing moves such as these with the burst of concentric contractions builds muscles more?! Not sure if that is true though! ha
Welcome home though! Glad you are back to give us more blogging training! :)

  2. i’m sure your recap is going to be stellar! love the TT theme. Now go hug your husband and thank him for cleaning, then tell him to come clean here.
    ;-)

  3. can’t wait to hear about it!!! and i also REALLY want to try grass fed beef haha so you’ve now made me want to hear about your trip and eat grass fed beef

  4. Love the TT theme! And when it comes to cross-training, no, I don’t really do it! I mean, I lift weights and run, but I think EVERY modality needs an element of weight training to it, so I don’t think it really counts. I don’t swim, cycle, etc…maybe it’s time I change it up, hey?

Hope catching up on life/work is more of a “good to be back” feeling than a stressful one. :) Love you, Linds!

  5. Love the TT theme! And welcome back – it’s always great to go away, and always funt o come home too. :D

As far as cross-training’s concerned, I would say I don’t really do it. I mean, I lift weights and run (2 types of training), but I feel like weights needs to go with EVERY modality so that doesn’t count. I don’t swim, I don’t cycle, etc…perhaps it’s time to step out of my comfort zone a little more, hey?!

Happy catching up – hope it’s more “good to be back” than stressful. :)

  6. I like it. I like it a lot.

Also, maybe I don’t know what cross-training is because my first reaction was to say “I cross-train every day” – that doesn’t feel right. Teach me.
