tuesday trainer – my “go-to” vanity moves

So I think I may have teased a little too much with something I said in yesterday’s post

But I’m not spilling the beans just yet.  Gotta make you work for it. Winking smile

Though I won’t share THAT particular dream with you (just yet), I do have something I want to get off my chest.  Clara’s excited.

I want a tattoo.

Like bad.

I have ZERO tattoos currently.  I really have nothing against getting tattoos – I just believe that, if you’re going to do something THAT permanent to your body, you need to really like and believe in what you’re getting.

I’m sorry if you have a butterfly tattoo, but I just never really understood why someone would get a generic symbol or character.  (if you DO have a butterfly tattoo, leave a comment and let me in on your reasoning.)

Call me crazy, but I want to get the Tuesday Trainer button tattooed on me.  (my mom and a few readers just called me crazy.)

I’m not sure WHERE, but I do know WHY.

It’s twofold:  The first is obvious – I love this blog and I love the TT feature.  Even if I didn’t blog anymore, this time in my life will always be looked back upon as EXCITING, FULFILLING and just plain FUN!

The second reason:  TT was Travis’ nickname as a child.  TT stood for “Tank Travis”, because he was such a HUGE kid!  Like “not on the growth charts” huge!! 

So there you have it.  I’m not sure I’ll follow through with it.  But that’s what I’ve been toying around with in my head lately. 

Moving on…to Tuesday Trainer, ironically. 

The theme for this week was “My Go-To Vanity Move”.  I loved this week because I got to hear about everyone’s “trouble” areas and where we focus our attention.  Most people, like myself, said Abs or Legs

I kinda feel as though we should get over ourselves and our “perceived faults or blemishes” and just promote self-loveBut I’m also a woman.  A human woman who doesn’t really love every single thing about my body.  So we’ll embrace these vanity moves and start working toward self-love with our firmer thighs and six packs.  K?

No workout today – just a “Vanity Move” spotlight, if you will.  The BIGGEST week for Tuesday Trainer – 14 participants!!   Listed in the order in which I received them.  (In this case, the early girl gets the worm top row of the table.)

observations (in 10)

It’s Sunday night.  Travis and I just put the kids to bed and he’s ready to snuggle on the couch, eat some ice cream and call it a night.  Now normally, I pre-write my posts during naptimes for the next day.  Today, I spent naptime in Asheville, shopping with Katy and Mom.  Totally worth skipping out on writing time.

So where does that leave you as a reader.

NO!  I must post!

I need something quick.  I need something easy.  I need observations.  (eerily similar to Friday’s post…hmm…I’m just getting lazy.)

In the next 10 minutes, here’s what comes to mind.  When the 10 minutes is up, I’m hitting “Post Draft To Blog” and heading to bed.  Probably devoid of pictures and correct grammar.

1)  Why can’t manufacturers make a cute comforter?!?  We spent ALL day shopping for my mom a comforter that fit these two requirements: 1) comfy and 2) chic.

We came home with nothing.

T.J. Maxx Homegoods, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Target, J.C. Penney, Belk and Dillards:  the stores we braved (on EMPTY stomachs!!) trying to find the perfect comforter.  Everything was either too country (quilts) or something that belongs on a “lady of the night’s” bed.

My mom is trying to grow out of both of those life stages.

2)  Travis really is the best husband.  He let me run off to Asheville for the day, while he took the kids to church, fed them lunch, and put them down for naps.

Oh, AND he vacuumed my house and washed and folded TWO loads of laundry.  Without being asked.   <-in my opinion, THE best part.

He deserves a Lindsay reward.  ;)

3)  My body needed today to rest.  After a week of teaching my own classes, subbing for OTHER people’s classes, two speed workouts and yesterday’s 8.5 mile long run, I was SPENT.

Today felt great to just rest and recoup.  To allow my body and brain to chill.

I’ll go back at it hard tomorrow.

I’m almost ashamed of how much I love to exercise.  Almost.

4)  Dreams that Travis and I have had for a couple of years now are slowly becoming a REALITY!

I’ll talk more about this later, but, suffice to say, God is good and He will give you the desires of your heart when you seek HIS will!!!  Smile

5)  I’m not sure that these are “observations”, so much as plain ol’ Lindsay rambles.  Observations seem like a classier description…so we’ll go with that.  I’m straight class.  Not to be confused with a “lady of the night”.  Those are two seperate things.

6)  I was able to put Clara’s “Bieber” hair into a ponytail tonight for the first time!  Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!  Then we dressed her up as a chef.

Then, SHE proceeded to cook us strawberries, a single french fry and the smallest can of Progresso soup you’ve ever seen.

It was a little bland, to be honest.

Yesterday’s run called for SPEEDWORK.  Say it with me: “Speedwork is our friend.  Speedwork makes us stronger.”

Yeah, I don’t buy it either.

thursday’s theme and enjoying life

This is like my 13th post with “Thursday’s Theme” in the title!  (It’s going to come in real handy when I want to search by post title for something specific.)

Which means we’ve been doing Tuesday Trainer for quite sometime now. 

Wait…just went back and checked.  This will be the SEVENTENTH Tuesday Trainer!!  Geez louise!!  If you can’t find something to use out of all of those videos, you’re just lazy. 

I love that this little idea of mine has blossomed into something pretty big!!  The community support, the retweets, the Facebook “shares” – I’m loving it!

Not only that, I get numerous emails from readers, telling me that they did a TT workout and how the VISUAL aspect of having every exercise there to see, was what helped them push through!

I have only you guys to thank!  So thank you!! 

I have such a LOVE for fitness and helping others that this is a REALLY fun and fulfilling thing for me.  Don’t get me wrong – I was happy before the blog and I’ll be happy after I’m done writing, but I’m truly enjoying this time in my life.  I hope everyone reading can say that about their lives.  We all deserve to be happy and enjoying LIFE!

Because I’m having SO much fun with this “My Go-To” theme, we’re gonna keep chugging along with it!  The theme for this week’s Tuesday Trainer is “My Go-To Vanity Move”. 

So last week, we tried to save time.  This week, our moves will be those that, when we have extra time at the gym, we do.  What exercises or body parts do you focus on when you have 5 extra minutes to spare?  What are your “vanity moves”?

I always go for the core or legs!  (and it shows)

A few guidelines:

  • ANYONE can participate – blogger or not.
  • If you do blog, be sure to introduce yourself AND your blog.
  • Feel free to give tips on proper execution and technique.
  • DON’T include a number of reps. I’ll do that part.
  • If your move isn’t correct, meaning improper form or instruction, I will not be able to feature it. Do your homework and get it right!!
